Autumn leaves are in full bloom at Yakuo-ji Temple in Aoki, Sakuragawa City, Ibaraki Prefecture.

The temple is said to have been founded in 808 by Tokuichi Daishi, a priest of the Hosso sect. According to Jakumuro, there are more than 100 large and small maple trees in the precincts, including old trees that are over 400 years old and several trees that are 300 to 400 years old. As in previous years, the leaves began to change color from the end of last month, and the peak of the season lasts until mid-December.

Worshipers gazed at the trees coloring the precincts in autumn colors and took pictures. Masaaki Soeda (69), a part-time employee from Kasama City in the same prefecture who visited with his wife, said, "The shape of the temple gate and the autumn leaves are a good combination. It seems that the autumn leaves are welcoming us."
